Energy Check-in

Morning Mindset ✨check-in✨

I started kicking off each day with an Energy Check-In and it has been so helpful for me to visualize realistically how much energy I have to spend each day. I draw 5 hearts and color in however many I feel like represent my energy level. In chronic illness circles, there is something called the Spoon Theory, a theory suggesting that we are only given a certain amount of ‘spoons’ a day and it is up to us how we will choose to spend our spoons (energy.)

If I’m having a low energy level day, maybe lower than average, I will not push myself to complete every task on my to-do list that day, I’ll get done simply what I can.

After the check-in, is a prompt that states “3 things I’m grateful for.” Being someone with Anxiety & Depression, I benefit from a prompt on gratitude. I’m aware of what worries me, but let’s bring my attention to what I’m grateful for.

Next is a prompt that asks “What can I look forward to today?” This helps because I am aware of what I am dreading about the day, it’s looming over me like a dark cloud. BUT how about a mindset shift, what do I have to look forward to about each day?

Lastly, I ask myself what’s lingering? Sometimes all our thoughts need is to be seen, and heard (just like us.) Then we can move on with our day!

Let me know what you think about these prompts! Will you try them out and would you like to see any more?!

Happy Monday friends, I hope your day has been beautiful.
